I am a 4th year Biology student at Georgia Tech seeking to help high school teachers make information about the human microbiome and personalized medicine more accessible to high school students. All too often, high school biology classes only give students a brief introduction into microbiology, causing students to miss out on this exciting, rich, and diverse subfield of biology.
I believe that the human microbiome provides students with a fantastic glimpse into the microbial world by covering a range of subjects including microbial diversity, ecology, human health, and current bioinformatic technologies. I hope that teachers and students will be able to use this site as a learning tool to guide their studies on this exciting area of science.
On this site you will find information and materials for teachings on preparing lessons about the human microbiome. These include in-class activities and experiments.
For students, you will find a variety of information to introduce you to the exciting world of your microbiome and how scientists are studying it.
